Dressing for the events, not the wedding

A reception outfit has a different job to a bridal one. You will be standing, greeting people and very likely dancing, for several hours. Weight works against you, and anything that needs constant adjusting will ruin the evening.

That is why reception pieces sit lighter. The embroidery is placed rather than solid, the skirt has less volume, and the dupatta is usually smaller or attached. You still photograph well, and you can still move at the end of the night.

Engagements

An engagement is usually smaller and earlier in the day, so there is more room to be bold with colour. Pastels, blush, powder blue and mint all work, and a sharara set or a lighter lehenga is often a better choice than a full skirt.

If the engagement is being photographed professionally, think about the background. Pale outfits against a pale venue tend to wash out.

What is in this collection

Lighter embroidered lehengas, gowns and indo-western pieces, and sharara sets that carry the occasion without the weight. Most come in several colourways, so if you have seen something you like in the wrong shade, ask us.

Our team handles alterations in store, with most adjustments finished in two to three days.

Frequently Asked Questions

What should I wear to an Indian reception?
Something formal but lighter than bridal. A placed-embroidery lehenga, a gown or a sharara set all work. Comfort matters more than most people expect, because a reception is a long evening on your feet.

Can the bride wear a lehenga to the reception too?
Very commonly, yes, usually in a different colour to the wedding day and noticeably lighter. Plenty of brides choose pastels or ivory for the reception.

What is the difference between this and the bridal collection?
Weight and embroidery density. Bridal pieces are built for the ceremony and carry far more handwork. These are built for the evening around it.

Do you carry gowns as well as lehengas?
Yes. Indo-western gowns suit receptions particularly well if you want something formal that is easier to move in than a full skirt.
