What a ready to wear saree actually is

A traditional saree is a single six-yard length of fabric that has to be pleated and pinned every time you wear it. A ready to wear saree comes already pleated and stitched into shape, so you step into it, secure it, and drape the pallu. That is the whole process.

You will see the same thing sold as a pre-draped saree, a pre-stitched saree or a one minute saree. They all describe the same idea, and the difference between them is mostly how much of the drape is fixed in advance.

For anyone who has never draped a saree, or who has an event to get to and no time to spend on it, this is the version that actually gets worn rather than admired in the wardrobe.

What is in this collection

Our one minute pre-pleated sequence sarees come in up to ten colours each, which is the widest colour choice we carry in any single style. Alongside those are hand-embroidered designer pieces and pre-pleated georgettes in wine, peach, lavender and baby pink.

The sequinned styles suit receptions and evening functions where you want the fabric to catch the light. The embroidered pieces are better for daytime events and for anyone who prefers something less reflective.

Sizing and fit

Because a ready to wear saree is stitched, the fit matters more than it does with a traditional drape. This is worth getting right in person. Both Brampton stores carry the full range, and our team can adjust the fit, usually within two to three days.

If you are ordering online, we ship across Canada, with free shipping over $100 within Ontario and over $150 CAD elsewhere.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does ready to wear saree mean?
It means the pleating and draping are already done for you. Instead of six yards of loose fabric, you get a stitched garment you step into. Wearing one takes about a minute.

How do I put on a one minute saree?
Step into the skirt section, fasten it at the waist, and bring the pallu over your shoulder. Some styles have the pallu pre-attached, so there is nothing to arrange at all. Ask us in store and we will show you on the actual piece.

Can a ready to wear saree be altered?
Yes. Because it is stitched, it can be taken in or let out like any other garment. We handle this in store, with most adjustments finished in two to three days.

Is it suitable for a wedding?
Very much so. Several of the sequinned and hand-embroidered pieces in this collection are made for exactly that. The convenience is a bonus, not a compromise on how it looks.
